I watched a documentry here in the UK on channel 4 the other day called 'Other people's breast milk'. Kate Garraway investigated the advantages and disadvantages of cross-feeding, breast-milk donation and wet-nursing by rounding up some of the women who share each other's milk.
One man even claims that drinking breast milk cured him of cancer.
Though would you let your baby drink from another woman's breast? Im against it. My child had breast milk produced by myself for two months then wouldn't take it after that. Therefore I reached for the formula and now he loves his bottle feeds.
I can't stand the thought of my best friend breast feeding my baby. Not only would it be breaking our bond, I almost feel that it would be taking away my ways of being a mother.
I don't think it is right. That is a bond that only you and your baby can have, why let another woman intrude? I know that it is for the health of the baby and all, but people buy breast milk in bottles. How do you know that the woman that produced the milk isn't on drugs. You don't actually know what is going into your babies system. At least if it was from your own breast, you know.
Im interested to find out whether any newsvine mums agree with this act or not.
